Well, yes, as I allude above, I did put myself in a vulnerable position: should they choose to, they could allege that I attacked Girl 1, and then it's simply my (single) word against theirs combined. This thought did cross my mind before I agreed to give them a lift, but in the end I decided that it would be better to take that chance and help them out, rather than leave them 'stranded' (insofarasmuch as anywhere in Hull would constitute 'stranded), and perhaps only to be picked up by someone less agreeable...
