First off, courtesy of
ms_katonic, the trailer for... Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus:
It's got a mega shark! It's got a giant octopus! It looks positively riddled with cheese! AND it features late 80s teen pop sensation Debbie 'Foolish Beat' Gibson in a starring role! If you only see 300 films this year, surely you can find it in your heart to consider making this one of them?
Still on risk and high danger, ASDA in Halifax insist on proof of age to buy.... teaspoons. As a responsible retailer, y'see, ASDA balk at the prospect of selling these deadly weapons that also serve as handy beverage agitators to minors. You therefore need to prove that you're 18 before the store will allow you to part with your cash for some. Remember, readers, teaspoons don't kill people; people kill people.
Moving on, how about an air-powered car. Lamentably it's a prototype, although KLM are going to be trialling a fleet of air-powered vehicles at Schipol next month. I confess that there's something ironic about trialling a greener mode of transport at, uh, an airport in the first instance, but it's certainly an intriguing concept.
The Times has a fantastic picture of the Space Shuttle Atlantis silhouetted against the sun. Seriously cool pic. As, indeed, is this snap of a Stealth Bomber breaking the sound barrier over the California desert.
Hot on the tail of the revelation that a video commissioned by the Alberta Tourist Board used scenes shot in Northumberland, we discover that Stratford's own TV campaign uses images of Shropshire. This is lame - at least the Canadians went to a completely different continent.
As if proof were needed that we live in Dark Times indeed, scientists are apparently warning that rats across Britain are evolving a resistance to poison that makes them almost impossible to kill. Cheery thought, no?
And finally, just to confirm that
neilgaiman_feed is a class, class act, here's Neil on fannish entitlement issues.
