Go you for an incredible bike journey! I love the town names and descriptions "... Skidby and Little Weighton..." and want to go look them all up on a map. Alas! work takes precedence.
I would argue that your fixed bike is not "reduced to the bare minimum." My unicycle has fixed pedals, a seat, one wheel and forks to hold all together: now that's minimalist! ;-) Not that I've ever taken it on a 45 mile trek - my best effort took me on the order of 100 yards. I'm hoping to someday make it all the way around the block, which would be a full half mile.
