I've just finished reading Harry Potter and the Third Key... Parts of it are clumsy, some if it's way too contrived and obviously it's a bit too long...

...but I am rather proud of it, still.

I've re-read Draco In Darkness occasionally and, although, like you, I see some flaws, I still come away with a sense of I wrote that?? I wish I could recapture that ability - I feel like it came just once in my life.

Yep, there are several moments where I find it hard to believe that it's my writing... and the somewhat sprawling plot took me by surprise, too.

The prompt for reading it was that P'd expressed an interest, so I'd dug it out for him, and sort of got caught up in a parallel re-read myself.

Like you, too, I'd love to be able write again: I do have some vague ideas, but every time I attempt to flesh them out, the inspiration just runs dry.

It's years since I reread TTK...

You do have a right to be proud of it, though - it was quite an achievement.

It's evident, though, that it was a rushed piece of writing towards the end - I noticed a couple of times where I'd slipped up, and will be trying to address that as I press on with the edit that is TTK: Reloaded.

Someone's converted it into a .pdf, I discovered the other day - the old, Schnoogle version, with the Wizard's Triv chapter headings.

I did, indeed, have TQ's news relayed to me by cynthia_black: sounds absolutely awesome, and my fingers are crossed that it continues to go well :-)

Though I say so myself, there was more than inispiration that struck me for TTK, I feel like some of it was written with something approaching skill, and I'm really not sure if I've still got that within me.

I have some ideas - even started fleshing out some of them, but trying to construct your own world and characters is a lot harder than stealing someone else's ready-built world and then killing everyone. Slowly.
