Replying to one of carolanne5's comments here reminded me of the Balloon Polls I ran as tefkas: I think my favourite was The Really Evil Balloon Poll, what with the massive voter fraud going on, but the Weasley Balloon poll had some staggering numbers in its final round.

I really ought to do a Twiglet balloon poll - 'cept I would imagine most people would plump for the option that said Everybody, all at once. Edward, Bella, Alice, Esme, Jacob, Leah, Carlisle et al, all in a rapidly falling balloon. Seriously, when else in life would you get that kind of luck? ;-P

Methinks I'd better put my shirt back on (post-ride-in again, see), since I think I can hear the cleaner lurking about in the corridor, and frankly she probably doesn't get paid enough to catch glimpses of partially clad f0xes at this hour of the morning.

If you did such a poll then I might save Alice. Also, I would want a guarantee that dropping them from a balloon would actually finish them off!

I got annoyed with Alice when she was playing dress up doll games with people. The rest of the time she seemed to be fairly reasonable - at least in comparison to the other sparkly ones.

I thought the whole point about her playing dressing up games with other people as her dolls was to give her some kind of character flaw, since otherwise she'd been threatening Bella's own levels of perfection...

It may have been a bit grating, but compared to some of the larger problems I hardly noticed.

Well, there's a bit of a quandary in the fic novel^*, isn't there? Because don't forget, with her super-sharp-vampire-eyes, her OMG beautiful family are even MOAR OMG WTF beautiful in her eyes...

Alice is so much EK's favorite that she's named her black trench coat after the character. But then, the dress-up thing would hardly be considered a flaw by my fashion-plate child.

I think, too, that if you had to nail^* me down to a favourite, then it would probably be Alice. Prior to breaking down, it might've been Jacob, but *skin shudders at inadequately suppressed memories of the trauma that was that book*...


* nail being the operative word. Confessions of preference for a character, any character, from Twiglet would only be extracted through explicitly pointed means of encouragement

I miss your balloon polls fiercely. Please, PLEASE, consider doing another one? You've never done Star Wars, I believe? Though IIRC, Han Solo was on the same fateful ride with (CAPTAIN) Jack Sparrow.

Yep, Cap'n Jack had to concede that they done what's right by them...

Not to be immodest, or anything, but I've not got the readership here sufficient to make the polls fun - a lot of the enjoyment came from watching the engagement with the flist, and the campaigning and so on.

But then, like I said, I'd need to be up to speed with a sufficiently well-known group of characters. Heroes might work (Hiro FTW, even though I'd rather keep Mohinder).

I never did a proper Harry Potter one, either.

And really, I need to get my writing head back on before venturing to suggest that another group of luckless souls chart a SlowFox Balloon o' Doom...

That said, as per my comment to sophie8 above, the thought of a Battlestar Galactica balloon poll is worryingly attractive.

The options I can think of, atm, for a new balloon poll would be Twiglet and Heroes. Oh, and Battlestar Galactica.... *ponders that latter, carefully* Battlestar Galactica... now that could work...

Aaaah, the balloon polls were fun. Although the mass cheating did get a little out of hand towards the end! Maybe a small readership would be good.

I only saw a few eps of SG:A - not enough to get a feel for the characters. Who would I put in a NuTrek balloon? Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura... and? Everyone else was very limited in terms of lines, were they not?

Still, at least I could have Kirk hanging off the basket by his fingertips. He's good at that...

Well there would be original!Spock as well as new!Spock. Sulu might not of spoken much but he was very dashing in his sword fight. You couldn't leave out Kahn, he's a fab baddie. Captain Pike and the Sexy Green Lady weren't on screen much but they'd fill out numbers ... and there was that tribble behind Scotty in his first scene, you'd have to have a tribble in a Trek balloon.

I missed these so much I had my own a few months back. First I did the US version of The Office, and then I let people nominate characters from anything and threw them all into a death match. It went on for about a million years and I encouraged cheating so it was ridiculously unfair, but it was a lot of fun.
