Hull City got thumped 4-0 at home last night by Everton in the Carling Cup. Which means that, in time-honoured fashion, we can argue that it's a blessing in disguise, since it allows us to 'concentrate on the league'.

Unfortunately, whilst this is undoubtedly true (we're currently lying 19th, purely by virtue of the fact that Portsmouth are woeful, we're just merely abject), 'concentrating on' and 'performing in' seem to be quite different things.

Still, the revival starts on Saturday. Where are we again? Oh, that's right. Liverpool. Away.

*ponders prospects for about seven nanoseconds*

OK then, mebbes the revival starts the week after...

Silver lining, hmm - maybe you're overtrying to find the positive side. OTOH, I hope you're right and the revival starts this weekend.

D'you think they should change managers?

I've never been a huge fan of changing managers for the sake of it. OTOH, I think we've only won two matches this calendar year in the league, and that's pretty dismal.</understatement>

I had expected Gordon Strachan, on leaving Celtic, to immediately take up duties somewhere in the Premiership, and on the current evidence, you've got to suspect that Phil Brown's the likeliest contender for being shown the door first.

You should have stopped your manager running the Great North Run and told him to concentrate on sorting out the football team - what he is paid for.

He did mention his allegiance earlier on, and he's particularly keen on tracking the Toffees' progress in the Europa League, he says. So I'll be doing my best to relay all appropriate results from that arena as time moves on ;-P

Well, we escaped relegation last year by the proverbial skin of our teeth. Srsly, we had to win the last game, but lost it, and were only saved by the team below failing to score just one, solitary goal in their match. And it wasn't so much the knife-edge that things were balanced on that afternoon as the team's staggering complacency that they were fine with losing, and perfectly happy to leave their fate in the hands (or at the feet) of others...

Last season was Hull's first time ever in the top flight of domestic football. This season's already looking like it could be their last...
