An involuntarily offline weekend

I managed to get online on Friday night from Castle Fox, but about five minutes' up-time was all that was available on Saturday before the connection died completely. Telephone line continues to mainly consist of static and yes, I know, I really need to get it seen to. But it won't be this week.
'sides, not spending evenings glued to the PC might not be a bad thing anyway.
P and I saw Hull City sweep aside the mighty Wigan in a crushing, I tell you, crushing 2-1 display of awesome. To be honest, it really didn't look as though Wigan had turned up - they didn't seem that interested in attacking our goal, but we were mightily glad of Geo's goal that put us two clear when Wigan got one back. Injury time was nerve-wracking, accompanied by a deafening howl of the home fans whistling for full-time to be called...
I finished The Reality Dysfunction - I'd forgotten how awesome Ilex was in attack mode on Lalonde (this is surely the sort of flying that we were expecting of Syrinx and Oenone, wasn't it?), and it wasn't until Meyer read the decrypted note from Mzu that I remembered how Udat got her out from Tranquility. And that was awesome, but 'twill be a shame when Meyer and Udat discover that Mzu likes to cover her tracks.
Right now I'm just at the start of The Neutronium Alchemist, and wincing at the introduction of Capone. Why did PFH have to do that to us? The sequestration virus is about to spread exponentially across Ombrey, and has also taken Norfolk. We've yet to catch up with Joshua - I have to say that I still prefer the concept of Joshua/Ione to Joshua/Louise, principally because Ione still rocks.

Date: 2009-10-06 02:54 pm (UTC)I'm not certain that Portsmouth's winning streak can go on much longer, though.

Date: 2009-10-06 02:48 pm (UTC)P and I went, as alluded, to the football, which was fun. There was Mali-walking, of course, and he read a graphic novel version of the Hobbit, and we went for a drink at Caffe Nero in town. So 'twas a pretty good weekend...

Date: 2009-10-06 01:03 pm (UTC)Anyway TRD, yes the long term plotting of Mzu to leave Tranquility is superb, and I rather liked the dark twist. A long burning slow revenge.
My OTP would also be Joshua/Ione. Although I can't help but wonder why she would choose someone, who by her own admission is genetically disposed to wanderlust, to father a child who will be chained to Tranquility. Most odd.

Date: 2009-10-06 02:52 pm (UTC)*blinks* Actually, that does surprise me! Hope you had a good time, although given the way that you relayed the score, I'm guessing that you were supporting for Reading (which is kinda appropriate, if you use the other pronounciation!)?
I hadn't thought through the consequences of a Lord of Ruin consumed by wanderlust. And aren't there two of them? Ione's got one baby in the exowomb and one au naturel, as it were. I wonder how they resolve the succession issues there?
Mzu is scarily driven by revenge... the fact that there were eight teams of operatives from different governments all following her makes sense, though, as you watch the different pieces fall together.
Ironic, too, that she gets rescued by a Blackhawk, when it was Blackhawks that attacked Briezling (sp?) in the opening to TRD.
