Cold up top
Jan. 14th, 2010 05:54 pmThe training course is taking place at a farm/conference venue a little way outside Hull, and I was rather surprised to discover, once I'd made it past the outskirts of civilisation* that there was actually quite a bit of snow about. Had I been so forewarned, I'd probably have allowed myself a little extra time for the Castle Fox -> Happy Holiday Home -> Work Training run.
As it is, I wasn't late, arriving about 2 minutes early, but that's slightly closer than I like to cut things.
Anyway, the drive back was through some pretty thick fog as we came up over the hills, and it caught me by surprise. At home, briefly, before heading up to the Farm to collect ex and thence to P's school for parents' evening.

Date: 2010-01-20 08:13 am (UTC)The weird thing is that his best subject is Art, something that neither ex nor myself have any aptitude for whatsoever. I was slightly galled when we got the report for the first term, where the two 'worst' subjects for him were... IT and Music. And 'worst' in this context meant he only rated 'good' rather than 'very good' or 'excellent'. But of all the subjects for him to be sub-par in (and, seriously, he's NOT AT ALL), for them to be IT and Music felt like a bit of a slap in the face to me (because, obviously, it's all about me). Ex and I went to parents' evening the other night and spoke to almost all the teachers, and they're all universally pleased with him. So yeah, overall, it's pretty good :-)
