Quick update whilst I transfer The Wire 1x13 to a USB drive to watch on the XBox (yes, I could just as easily watch it on the PC, but I prefer the XBox, and it's the one with sound, which is obviously beneficial).

Out walking Mali on the ice this morning, and was pulled flying to land hard in the middle of the road. Predictably, there was a wide and varied audience, and it grieves me to confess that a car stopped to enquire after my health in the aftermath.

Me, I was fine - light bruising to hand, more bruising to ego. Ah well.

Have read Morganville IV, moved swiftly on to Morganville V. P and I went to see Avatar, review to follow tomorrow, methinks. Will note that there were trailers for Percy Jackson and Alice in Wonderland, and a great big display in the foyer for Sherlock Holmes, along with the trailer, which suddenly made me slightly more warmly disposed to the concept...

Am spending this evening finishing off Season 1 of The Wire, which is excellent.

Sorry to hear your ego got a bump, there. Glad your injury seems mostly of the sort that will heal quickly with a bit of good humor about the event. Also, good to know there are still folks in the world (or at least in Hull) who will stop to check if someone who has fallen is in need of a helping hand up (or a lift to A&E?) If you'd cracked your noggin on the way down, it would have been beneficial to have such neighborly concern for your welfare.

Did you find Avatar to contain anything I should be concerned with, for YK's sake? She's "young" for 12, and it's rated PG-13 here in the States. I'm much more concerned about on-screen violence or themes like torture or rape, than nudity or sexual situations, of course.

Thank you for the detailed, comparative explanation of the violence. Language isn't a worry - YK will probably hear worse from Estel's mother when she burns her fingers taking the ham out of the oven at Christmas (It's family tradition - ham + burns + cussing = HOLIDAY CHEER). Goreless gaming violence is similarly not an issue - been there, done played the first-person shooter games.

I hope your stiff fingers continue to heal up in fine fashion. Hands can be dicey, lots of little fiddly bits to *yoink* in the wrong direction and ouch!

*sends out a dose of California Healing Vibes™, just for good measure*

There's a man in my neighbourhood who owns three large golden retrievers. The first time I ever saw him was several winters ago (after a recent snow) when he was taking them for a walk (yes, all three at once, on a special three-headed leash). He got overbalanced by the canine force vs slippery surfaces and fell forward, while the dogs continued chugging swiftly along, dragging him behind them, on his belly. I asked if he was all right and he was, but I still smile at the memory when I see him around. He only had me as the witness, though. ;)

Anyway - glad you weren't hurt. Ice falls can be nasty.
